The Accelera 3000
Advanced Video Encoder (AVE) from Aspex Semiconductor is an optional
plug-in board for StreamZHD and StreamZ encoding systems and Digital
Rapids XCoder transcoding nodes that accelerates MPEG-2 HD and SD
video encoding and transcoding with the MainConcept codec.
Particularly advantageous for the encoding and transcoding demands of
high definition content, the addition of the Accelera AVE to
StreamZHD systems also provides the ultimate combination of real-time
HD format support and quality for live HD encoding.
Significantly
accelerates transcoding to MPEG-2 from other digital media formats -
more than 2x faster than real time depending on frame formats and
settings (high quality settings benefit most from acceleration)
Increases simultaneous encoding abilities by taking
most intensive part of MPEG-2 encoding load off system CPUs, further
boosting productivity
Enables real-time
live MPEG-2 encoding of HD content up to 1920x1080@30fps on systems
with dual Xeon 3.6 processors, and higher quality settings for
real-time live encoding on systems that can already encode
1920x1080@30fps (such as systems with two or more dual-core Xeon
processors)
Enables higher
quality settings and more concurrent MPEG-2 encodes (two concurrent
at maximum quality level, four concurrent at default DVD encoding
settings (for real-time live SD encoding with standard StreamZ
configuration
Use of two Accelera AVE
boards in a system provides further acceleration
Works transparently in
the background - no operational changes to how you use the Stream
